Who’s Number One (WNO) have established themselves as one of the most impressive promotions in professional grappling with the consistent use of elite level grapplers to produce exciting matches. Of course, their last event garnered more attention for the action that took place backstage between Gordon Ryan and Andre Galvao, as opposed to anything that actually took place on the mats. Regardless, the actual matches that WNO put on that night were just as exciting as always and the card ended with a stellar clash between Craig Jones and Ronaldo Junior.
The promotion has already started announcing some of the upcoming matches for their next event on March 26th, including the fact that Gordon Ryan will be returning again for the main event against Vagner Rocha. This matchup was the very first announcement made, quickly followed by Ryan’s teammate Nicky Rodriguez who will be facing off against multiple-time ADCC World Champion Yuri Simoes.
There will also be a surprising addition to the card in the form of Mikey Musumeci, the American grappler who, despite being the proud owner of the fastest submission in the black belt world championship finals, has never actually competed on the WNO stage before. He will be facing off against a very well-respected teacher and coach in Marcelo Cohen, who came up just short in his last superfight against Edwin “Junny” Ocasio.
WNO has also announced a women’s matchup for the event as IBJJF no gi Pan-Ams Champion and our pick for Female Breakout Grappler of the Year 2020, Rafaela Guedes will take on Fight Sports black belt Maggie Grindatti. The final announcement for the upcoming card involves one of the hottest prospects in BJJ right now, ATOS brown belt Kade Ruotolo will take on one of John Danaher’s latest black belts, leglock specialist Ethan Crelinsten.
