The Second ADCC South American Trials 2024 took place on March 9th, 2024 and the results saw another 8 incredible grapplers win invites to the upcoming world championship. With ADCC 2024 fast approaching, this represented the last chance for most of these competitors to prove themselves worthy of an invite and that meant that every weight class was stacked with top contenders. Fabricio Andrey had one of the toughest runs to gold in the under 66kg division, although Pedro Marinho had to overcome just as many challenges on his way to winning the invite at under 88kg.
They weren’t the only men with a ton of ADCC experience who emerged victorious either, as Victor Honorio and Henrique ‘Ceconi’ Cardoso won the over and under 99kg divisions respectively and both of them have won this tournament before. The final men’s champion was Alexandre De Jesus, who won the under 77kg division despite not being one of the favorites in the bracket before the tournament began. There was a ton of talent in the women’s divisions too, as this represented the only chance for these competitors to earn an invite to ADCC 2024.
All three female champions from the first edition of ADCC South American Trials the week before were returning too, looking to repeat their success when it mattered most. In the end only one of them was able to achieve that feat though, as Maria Ruffatto won the over 65kg division for the second time in a row. Anna Rodrigues won the coveted invite on the other end of the scale in the under 55kg division, while the under 65kg division was won by Ana Vieira. All three women had to get past several elite competitors in order to book their places at ADCC 2024 and all three of them looked as though they could be a top contender at the tournament.
