Mikey Musumeci will now be competing in the inaugural Craig Jones Invitational, as he will be facing an unconfirmed opponent in a superfight. It’s another massive signing by the promotion and they are quickly managing to put together one of the greatest cards that the sport has ever seen. That isn’t surprising considering the fact that there’s a million dollars on the line for each division and another million dollars in funding confirmed for the event before even bringing any sponsors on board or selling any tickets. Now that tickets have gone on sale for the event and they’re starting to recoup that initial investment, the announcements are really getting kicked into high gear.
The lineup for the Craig Jones Invitational is looking incredible already, and Mikey Musumeci is just one of the elite competitors who have signed to compete in a superfight outside of the stacked brackets. The first full match confirmed was the long-awaited intergender match between Gabi Garcia and Craig Jones himself, and the second announcement that followed soon after was even more impressive. UFC veteran and ADCC world champion Mackenzie Dern will face Ffion Davies in an interesting battle between two of the best female grapplers to ever set foot on the mats.
Musumeci’s opponent has not yet been announced but if these two other superfights are anything to go by then it should be a fantastic matchup. Musumeci is one of the biggest names in the sport and the current ONE Championship flyweight submission grappling world champion, so he will be eager for an equally accomplished opponent. He’s not the only ONE world champion competing at the Craig Jones Invitational either, as both of the Ruotolo brothers have entered the under 80kg division in the hunt for the million-dollar prize.
