Mica Galvao may have just set up a huge match with Pedro Marinho at some point very soon, as they have agreed to put both of their WNO titles on the line at the same time. It’s something that the promotion has never done before and is unlikely to do again any time soon, as the conditions to make a fight like that are pretty rare. Both Galvao and Marinho are reigning champions for the promotion, and gives this matchup an extra layer of interest is the fact that Galvao will be going for a third belt after already becoming a double champion earlier this year.
Marinho has held his title quite a while longer though, as he’s the only champion that the light-heavyweight division has ever known. He won the belt by beating Craig Jones back in 2022 and has since defended it multiple times against some of the best in the world. Galvao on the other hand won his first title at welterweight by winning a four-man tournament at WNO 20 in 2023. He started out by defending that belt multiple times just like Marinho, before deciding to move up to middleweight just a week ago to win his second title by beating the defending champion Jonnatas Gracie.
Marinho actually attempted to do the same himself before, but he lost his heavyweight title-fight with Gordon Ryan. When Galvao was successful in his attempt for a second title, he wasted no time at all and actually called put Marinho in his post-match interview. It didn’t take long for Marinho to respond either, but he had a counter-offer to make. Rather than Galvao moving up to light-heavyweight, Marinho suggested in a post to his official Instagram account that they both meet the middleweight limit and both belts would go to the winner:
Mica Galvao is not one to shy away from a challenge of course, and he immediately agreed with Pedro Marinho that they could compete for both WNO titles at once:
