Gordon Ryan was just crowned the new Who’s Number One Heavyweight champion after defeating Pedro Marinho in an absolute masterclass performance. Ryan wasn’t troubled at any point during the match and spent around twenty-five minutes attempting to submit Marinho by smothering him rather than a more traditional submission, before relenting and finishing the fight with a rear-naked choke instead. The match was originally supposed to be for Marinho’s Light-Heavyweight title but was moved up a division after Tim Spriggs was stripped of the Heavyweight title, with the pair fighting for the vacant belt.

Surprisingly, this was nowhere near the longest match of the night. Shortly before Ryan and Marinho took to the mats, the finale of FloGrappling’s reality show Who’s Next took place as Izaak Michell took on Kyle Chambers to determine the first season’s champion. Michell was the winner after two hours of grappling that he was dominating almost from the very start. The match took so long that it actually had to be moved to another set of mats in order to allow Ryan and Marinho to compete in a timely manner. Regardless, B-Team’s Michell has now been crowned the inaugural Who’s Next champion and has earned a $10,000 three-fight contract to compete on the Who’s Number One stage.
