It was only a matter of days ago that Submission Underground put on a fantastic nineteenth event that was intended to be the final one of the year, but now they’ve laid out plans for SUG 20 on December 30th. The main event for the final 2020 event will feature two people who came out on the winning side of SUG 19, as Mason Fowler defends his Absolute Championship against Bellator Heavyweight World Champion Ryan Bader. Bader managed to defeat Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at the event while Fowler defended his title against Satoshi Ishii to continue his reign after winning it from Craig Jones.
Speaking of which, Jones will actually be in the co-main event spot against Satoshi Ishii after returning to competition in the SUG cage at their last event. He took a little time away from the promotion after publicly announcing that he might be done with them as a result of the use of EBI overtime rounds after comparatively short regulation time periods. This is an element of Submission Underground that has drawn a significant amount of criticism from detractors and no doubt impacts on the quality of the overall event, but it seems as though Jones is willing to overlook this in order to get frequent matchups.
Only one other match has been announced for Submission Underground 20, and it features one of the biggest stars from 10th Planet, Richie “Boogieman” Martinez. He will be taking on UFC veteran and current Rizin Light-Heavyweight competitor C.B. Dolloway, most likely pretty high up in the main card running.
