Kody Steele just improved his professional MMA record to 6-0 at Fury Fighting Championship 89 on April 21st, 2024 and he may just be getting a call from the UFC in the near future. It couldn’t come at a better time either, as Steele won his sixth professional fight on the night of his 29th birthday and he’s been working hard to deliver results on the regional MMA circuit for over two years now. Steele has been very popular in the grappling world for quite some time thanks to his exciting style and he decided to make the transition to MMA all the way back in 2021, when he had his first amateur fight.
There was a lot of attention around this decision, and not just because Steele was a fantastic submission grappler with strong wrestling. He had also won a Combat Jiu-Jitsu world championship prior to this and shown that he was able to mix in striking with his elite grappling too. Steele quickly racked up a pair of finishes by strikes in amateur MMA in the same year and it was clearly time to progress to professional matchups. He has wasted no time since then either, as he won his first two professional fights in 2022 and added another three wins to his record in 2023.
Although he’s been focusing on his MMA career, Steele has continued his competitive career as a grappler alongside that as well and has had several high-profile matches in that space of time. Most recently he was invited to compete against Ronaldo Junior at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 6, so it was clear that the promotion were already aware of him. Now that Kody Steele has added yet another finish to his MMA record by knocking out Alejandra Martinez at Fury FC 89 and it appears as though the UFC might be calling him soon.
UFC Fight Pass shared the footage of Kody Steele moving to 6-0 in his professional MMA career and hinted that he might be receiving a call from the promotion in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
