BJJ Stars 15 is scheduled for April 26th, 2025 and the promotion has just announced the full lineup for the event’s middleweight no gi grand prix. This will actually be the first time that the promotion has put together a tournament under ADCC rules and they’ve managed to attract 8 of the best grapplers in the world. There will also be several superfights in between rounds as well, and they’ve pulled out all the stops there too. Erich Munis is defending his absolute title against Adam Wardzinski, and that isn’t the only gi title-fight either. The other major matchup that has been booked for BJJ Stars 15 is a women’s absolute title-fight between Gabrieli Pessanha and Tayane Porfirio.
The main attraction will be the no gi grand prix though of course, and there’s one man in particular who stands out as the most likely winner. Mica Galvao is coming into this straight off winning ADCC 2024 at under 77kg so naturally he would be considered the early favorite. He isn’t the only man in this bracket who stood on that podium though and the bronze medalist PJ Barch will also be a top contender here. Barch will also be pretty eager to get one back against Galvao after dropping a close decision to him in the semi-finals of ADCC.
Oliver Taza is another elite grappler in the BJJ Stars 15 lineup who will be out for revenge against Galvao after ADCC, but Isaque Bahiense is actually coming into this event from the opposite side of things. Bahiense is one of only a handful of men to beat Galvao, and that win came in the pair’s only match so far. The only other man in the bracket who has history with Galvao is Jonnatas Gracie and although he lost their first meeting, it was a few years ago and in the gi so things will probably look a little differently this time around.
The final three men in the tournament are all new matches for Galvao and each one is an elite competitor who has the ability to stop him from winning this. Izaak Michell will be representing Australia and as one of the best grapplers to come out of there in recent years, he’s a tough opponent for anyone. Veteran black belt Gabriel Almeida is always a threat in any tournament and Elijah Dorsey will definitely be one to watch as the bracket unfolds. Although Galvao might be the favorite on paper, any one of these 8 men could walk away with the title and the lineup will make for a thrilling event.
