The IBJJF Pan Championship 2025 took place from March 19th to 23rd, 2025 and some of the best grapplers in the world delivered the results they needed to win gold. Gabrieli Pessanha was the only black belt double champion, as she won the super-heavyweight and absolute divisions. Gutemberg Pereira was the men’s absolute champion but he didn’t enjoy the same success at ultra-heavyweight, as it was Marcus Ribeiro who won gold there instead. There was a big upset in the next heaviest weight class too, as top prospect Nolan Stuart won his first IBJJF major by beating several tough opponents at super-heavyweight.
Stuart was the only underdog to become a champion in the men’s divisions either, as Jalen Fonacier and Rerisson Gabriel won gold at roosterweight and light-featherweight respectively. There were even more surprises in the women’s divisions too, with Thaynara Victoria causing the biggest upset of the event at light-featherweight. The middleweight division was won by Gisele Tavares and although she is still an elite competitor, Janaina Lebre registered a minor upset to claim the lightweight title. The rest of the weight classes featured more predictable winners, but each one of them still had some very difficult matches to get through along the way.
Diego ‘Pato’ Oliviera won a tough featherweight division and Alexandre De Jesus did the same at lightweight, but middleweight was one of the most challenging of the week. That was won by Tainan Dalpra, while Francisco Lo was the medium-heavyweight champion and Adam Wardzinski won gold at heavyweight. Jessica Dantas won the lightest women’s division at roosterweight, and Maria Luiza was not far above her as the featherweight champion. The final two women rounding out the 2025 class of IBJJF Pan champions were at medium-heavyweight where Maria Vicentini won gold, and at heavyweight where Larissa Dias was able to take home the title.
