The IBJJF No Gi Pan Pacific Championship 2024 took place on October 25th, 2024 and there were several elite grapplers standing on the podium at the end of the day. There weren’t many female BJJ competitors at the highest level unfortunately and even though there was a double champion, it was Nikki Lloyd-Griffiths didn’t actually get a match for either of her titles. Kanae Yamada won the only black belt match at the event, as she beat Sieun Kim to win gold at featherweight. There was plenty of tough matches awaiting the men’s double champion though, and in the end it was ATOS black belt Nicholas Maglicic who earned that honor.
Maglicic had to win four matches on the day in order to take home gold medals in both the ultra-heavyweight and absolute divisions. ADCC veteran Roberto Frias also made an appearance at super-heavyweight, where he beat two opponents to win gold. Ariel Tabak also went through two matches to win the middleweight division, while the lightweight division was won by Cole Abate. Although there would have been a lot of attention on a big name like Abate, the light-featherweight division produced a great matchup too. Daiki Yonekura beat his first opponent to book a place opposite David Weintraub in the final, then beat him to stand on top of the podium.
