The headline superfight for Polaris Squads 3 has just been announced and in keeping with the overall theme of Team UK & Ireland v Team USA, Freddie Vosgrone will be taking on Kyle Boehm in the fifteen-minute match. Both men have had a lot of success in grand prix-style events with Vosgrone being the reigning Polaris UK Grand Prix champion while Boehm started out by winning King of the Mats and the BJJ Fanatics grand prix, and has recently added the Submission Underground grand prix title to his trophy cabinet too.
The match will take place during the half-time interval of the team grappling match and will follow the more traditional Polaris ruleset. Freddie Vosgrone and Kyle Boehm will compete in a fifteen-minute match with the winner being declared by submission or by judge’s decision, although there will be no points employed. Instead of points, the regulation time-period will be separated into three five-minute segments and a winner will be declared for each segment, with the overall winner being the man who wins the majority of them.
It’s a ruleset that has produced plenty of action for the promotion in the past, and one that Vosgrone is certainly used to as an undefeated veteran of the Polaris mats. Given the exciting nature of both him and Boehm, it seems as though this superfight will be a welcome addition to what looks to be a stellar card and should produce plenty of fireworks in the middle of the main attraction.
