The IBJJF No Gi Absolute Grand Prix 2024 is scheduled for February 29th, 2024 and alongside the incredible tournament lineup, the promotion has also announced a series of brilliant superfights for the event. These superfights will be taking place in between rounds of the tournament and unlike the main attraction, they will all be contested in the gi. Not only are some of the top IBJJF competitors on the planet matched up together but the event will also feature some of the most impressive young talents in the sport as well.
The first two superfights announced for the IBJJF No Gi Absolute Grand Prix 2024 are between juvenile 2 blue belt competitors, all of whom will likely feature in major events more often in the coming years. Jonathan Anderson will be facing Max Schwartz and Graham Nascimento will take on Felipe Goulart early in the event, followed by a handful of purple belt matches too. These competitors have made more of a name for themselves already, particularly Andre Galvao‘s daughter Sarah Galvao, who will be up against Sabrina Lourenco. Steven Gomez faces Lucas Oliveira and Caleb Nascimento faces Nata Tenca, before the final purple belt match sees top Art of Jiu-Jitsu prospect Mia Funegra come up against Isabella Agdeppa.
Each of these matches will no doubt be highly entertaining, but the black belt matches are even more impressive again. Jackson Nagai vs Sandrey Silva was the first black belt match announced for the event, quickly followed by an interesting matchup between Shane Hill Taylor and the surging Zach Kaina. The final two black belt superfights announced for the event feature some of the best grapplers on the planet, as Tainan Dalpra will be competing against Mauricio Oliveira alongside Andy Murasaki and Mathias Luna facing off.
