Subversion Origin 2: Team Australia vs Team Brazil is scheduled for July 20th, 2024 and the promotion has just announced the full lineup for both teams competing at the event. Subversion are continuing their work as one of the leading professional grappling promotions in Australia and they’ve been taking huge steps towards becoming recognised on an international level lately too. Their last event, Subversion: Reign, saw them invite several elite grapplers from all around the world to challenge the best in Australia for the promotion’s inaugural titles. Now they’re taking a slightly different approach, and their next event is actually going to be a battle between 2 teams of 5 elite competitors representing Australia and Brazil.

Over the series of 5 matches, one of these two nations will emerge victorious by winning 3 or more of them. First up is the only female grapplers involved in the team matchup, where veteran IBJJF competitor Isabelle Costa will be representing Brazil against talented Australian black belt Hope Tabak. Then two Subversion veterans will take to the mats, as Brazilian Marco Joao takes on top Australian prospect and Lachlan Giles brown belt Hugh Boyd. Judo and BJJ black belt competitor Felippe Beltrao Martins is also flying the Brazilian flag in his match against one of the most well-respected competitors in Australia, Ariel Tabak.

Each of these first 3 matches are sure to produce some fireworks and they will serve as the ideal build-up to the final 2 matches of the night. Nova Arte head coach Rian De Paula has been fantastic in competition since moving from Brazil to Australia, but he has a tough challenge ahead of him from multiple-time ADCC Trials medalist and top Australian no gi grappler David Stoilescu. Then in the final match of the night, ATOS black belt Nicholas Maglicic will be representing Australia in a very difficult match against ADCC veteran and One Purpose BJJ head coach Roberto Frias.

The full Subversion Origin 2: Australia vs Brazil event, including every match in the lineup, will be available to watch live on July 20th, 2024 on FloGrappling, click here to subscribe and watch.
