Enigma Invitational 13 took place on September 24th, 2023 and Enigma Jiu-Jitsu put together a lightweight tournament that produced some great results. The event managed to attract some fantastic competitors to take part in the tournament and the lineup featured both top prospects and an ADCC veteran. In fact, New Wave Jiu-Jitsu actually entered two exciting young talents on opposite sides of the bracket. Although they both have promising futures ahead of them, they experienced mixed results on the night. Reese LaFever had a breakthrough performance by beating both Jeremy Skinner and Ben Eddy before going out in the semi-final, while his teammate Landon Elmore wasn’t quite as successful and went 1-1.
Dominic Mejia has been in great form recently but he really announced himself as one to keep an eye on at the event, he defeated both Jordan Holy and Carlos Henrique before coming up just short to Deandre Corbe in the semi-final. The most impressive performance of the night undoubtedly came from Corbe of course, as he actually won the tournament by submitting all 4 of his opponents. He submitted Augusto Rabelo in the opening round before stopping Elmore’s run in the quarter-final and beating Mejia in the semi-final. Corbe had another tough opponent for the final in the form of David Stoilescu but he maintained his perfect record by submitting him as well.
