EBI 21: The Absolutes is scheduled to take place on June 2nd, 2024 and the promotion has decided to mark a very special moment in their history with this stacked event. It will take place exactly 10 years to the day since the very first EBI event back in 2014, and that was a huge event that changed the course of professional grappling forever. Not only did it introduce the world to a brand new ruleset that has gained huge popularity since then, but it was also the birth of one of the world’s biggest professional grappling promotions. EBI 21 will also feel special because it has been over a year and a half since they last staged an event, one that was also an absolute tournament back at EBI 20.
Nicky Rodriguez stormed to victory in that tournament to become the first EBI absolute champion in almost 5 years and it’s not clear whether he will be returning to defend his title yet, as the full lineup is yet to be confirmed. The promotion has announced some of the competitors who will be entering the bracket though, and there are some huge names who will no doubt be eager to take home a major title. One of the early favorites will likely be Dan Manasoiu, who is almost certainly going to be the biggest man in the entire tournament.
He will have plenty of tough opposition though, with his teammate Giancarlo Bodoni entering the bracket alongside Lucas ‘Hulk’ Barbosa. Although these two men might be smaller than most people in an absolute tournament, there are also several elite heavier competitors like Kyle Boehm, Haisam Rida, and Roosevelt Sousa too. Andre Porfirio and Calon Sabino will also be competing at EBI 21: The Absolutes, and they will be joined by a surprise entry from Phil Davis; the former Bellator light-heavyweight world champion and UFC veteran.
The Eddie Bravo Invitational announced the news that they would be celebrating their 10 year anniversary with EBI 21: The Absolutes in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
