Jocko Willink has just become the latest in a string of high-profile names in the BJJ community to test positive for Coronavirus, although fortunately he remains asymptomatic at present. The news comes just days after another popular figure in Jiu-Jitsu, Dillon Danis, also tested positive for the virus although he has stated that he is suffering from some symptoms. This is just this last week, as Rener Gracie was forced to withdraw from cornering Brian Ortega in his last UFC fight and the greatest no gi grappler on the planet right now, Gordon Ryan, was also taken out of action by the virus.
Unlike the other figures that have contracted it, Willink is not so known for his competitive experience or his coaching duties, but moreso his voice in the sport. As the host of the Jocko Podcast, Willink has given advice on a whole host of topics and although Jiu-Jitsu is often a focus of his, his lessons can extend much further than that in many cases. Not so long ago, he talked about how to deal with losing in Jiu-Jitsu tournaments and gave an opinion that can be extrapolated to almost any area of life where you must deal with adversity.
In an update that he posted to his official Instagram account, Jocko Willink explained that he was required to take a Coronavirus test prior to attending an event in Texas. The precaution turned out to be a good idea as he test positive and didn’t attend the event, despite feeling completely fine in himself.
