Dillon Danis has just issued a public to challenge to Nate Diaz, for either an MMA fight or a grappling match. He’s also made a pretty bold bet on the outcome, as he’s announced that he intends to retire from combat sports and give out $10,000 to each of the people who liked the post if he’s unable to submit him in either ruleset in under a minute. It’s unclear exactly what prompted Danis to go after Diaz like this, although he does have a habit of making public callouts and they don’t always end up in any fights being booked.
In fact, Danis hasn’t fought in quite some time. The last time he was actually seen in action was all the way back in 2019 when he won his last Bellator fight, and the last time he was seen in professional grappling was at ADCC 2017. Danis did say earlier this year that he was planning on having at least four fights in 2023 though, so maybe he is actually intending to make good on this challenge. In fact, Polaris recently announced that he was intending to come back to professional grappling at one of their future events too.
None of that is a guarantee though of course, as Danis actually withdrew from his first fight of 2023 against KSI on short notice. It’s unclear what prompted Dillon Danis to target Nate Diaz as an opponent for his next fight, but it might have something to do with the fact that Diaz has been booked to compete in a boxing match against Jake Paul. That doesn’t have anything to do with Danis directly but not so long ago, Danis was actually angling for what would presumably have been a big payday with a boxing match against Paul himself.
Dillon Danis made the public challenge to Nate Diaz for either an MMA fight or a grappling match in a post to his official Twitter account:
