It appears as though Darren Till might be coming back to combat sports in a slightly different way than expected, as he’s just started angling for a boxing match with Dillon Danis. It’s a truly bizarre turn of events but there’s one more thing that makes it just that little bit more unexpected. Till isn’t looking to compete at just any time, he actually wants to take on Danis as part of the undercard for the upcoming Jake Paul v Nate Diaz fight on August 5th, 2023. Till issued the challenge in a Tweet that has since been deleted:
“Dillon Danis I heard the Jake Paul X Nate Diaz sales aren’t going 2 good. I’ll jump on the undercard with you and let you knock me out for a few quid if you fancy it, mate. Respectfully.”
It didn’t take long for Dillon Danis to issue a response to Darren Till, although his first Tweet about the potential boxing match has also since been deleted. He was short and sharp, getting straight to the point:
“Let’s do it.”
For many fighters, this could be seen as a clear sign that the fight is going ahead. When it comes to Danis though, there’s no guarantee that anything is going to come to fruition. He actually had his own boxing match arranged with a YouTube star, KSI, but withdrew at the last minute due to undisclosed reasons. After deleting his initial response, Danis then chose to respond again and went into a little more detail this time around:
“In MMA, this would result in a quick and one-sided fight for me. Why understandable he wants a boxing contest, but Darren Till doesn’t seem to understand that I would dominate him in any sport with ease. Remember, once a quitter, always one b*tch.”
There’d certainly be a lot of eyes on a potential boxing match between Darren Till and Dillon Danis, and putting as part of the Paul v Diaz card isn’t actually a bad idea at all. It’d definitely help boost the sales of the event and fans would no doubt be eager to see both men back in action. Till hasn’t competed since he left the UFC after his fight against Dricus Du Plessis at the end of 2022 and Danis hasn’t competed since his last Bellator fight in 2019.
