Top B-Team Jiu-Jitsu competitor and MMA fighter Damien Anderson has just been promoted to black belt in BJJ. Anderson is a fantastic grappler and he’s been right there among the very highest level for several years now, as evidenced by him being invited to be an alternate back at ADCC 2022. He spent a long time training under John Danaher before B-Team came together and has since been hard at work alongside some of the best lighter grapplers in the world like Ethan Crelinsten and Nicky Ryan. The years spent honing his craft have paid off massively, as he’s well on his way to becoming a serious contender in MMA now.
Anderson started his professional MMA career just a few days over a year ago, and he won his debut in the very first round. He’s gone from strength to strength since then and even though the level of competition he’s faced has increased, he’s kept up the exact same level of performance. In less than a year as a professional fighter, Anderson has racked up a perfect 4-0 record and none of his opponents have made it to third round. His most recent fight came at Fury FC 98 just a few days ago in fact, and he won his toughest fight yet with a heel hook in the second round.
Now Damien Anderson has received his BJJ black belt just a few days after that impressive submission win, although the promotion has definitely been well-deserved for quite some time now. The sky really is the limit for the rest of Anderson’s MMA career in the coming years, and he’ll likely still compete at the highest level of Jiu-Jitsu for at least a little while longer before it really takes off. In fact Anderson is already due to compete in his next major event at the end of the year, as he’s one of sixteen grapplers invited to the Combat Jiu-Jitsu Lightweight World Championship 2024.
Damien Anderson announced the news that he was promoted to black belt in BJJ in a recent post to his official Instagram account:
