The ADCC Camboriu Open 2024 took place on November 22nd, 2024 and there were plenty of talented grapplers making the journey to compete from all over Brazil. It was a great day of matches and there was even a handful of big names stepping on the mats too, particularly in the heavier men’s weight classes. ADCC veteran Fabio Caloi won gold in the under 83kg division and he did it in impressive fashion, submitting both of his opponents. Vinicius Lessa also made an appearance and won the under 100kg division, although he only had to submit one opponent in order to do so.
The men’s absolute division was won by purple belt Lauro Santos, who actually chose to test himself after winning the intermediate masters bracket at under 91kg. He submitted two out of his three opponents, including a black belt in the final; scoring one of the biggest upsets of the day. The women’s absolute division was won by Iara Grudysz, who also won gold at over 70kg earlier on in the day. Grudysz won a total of 5 matches across both brackets and with 2 submission wins, she finished the ADCC Camboriu Open 2024 with the most impressive performance of any of the female competitors.
