The IBJJF No Gi World Championship 2023 is well underway and the brackets have now been released for both the men’s and the women’s absolute divisions. This is by far the most prestigious no gi title up for grabs in 2023, as it is the toughest division to win at the IBJJF No Gi World Championship and there is no ADCC to compete in this year. Almost all of the best grapplers in attendance at the event will be vying for the absolute title and they will have to beat a range of opponents who are either bigger or smaller than them along the way, each presenting unique challenges.

Before looking at the brackets for the absolute division brackets, click here to take a look at our full preview of all of the regular weight classes being contested at the IBJJF No Gi World Championship 2023.

The men’s absolute division at the IBJJF No Gi World Championship 2023 is the biggest of the two brackets, with 21 competitors battling it out for the title. There are some very interesting matchups taking place early on too, with Elder Cruz and Fellipe Trovo are receiving byes through the opening round and meeting in the second. Outside of that, most of the biggest names will only be meeting one another if they can make it through the first matches. On one side of the bracket there’s a superb potential battle between ADCC Trials winners Roberto Jimenez and Heikki Jussila, provided Jimenez wins his first match against Jose Munoz.

Women’s Absolute Division

The women’s absolute division might only have 11 competitors in it, but there will be just as much action once they hit the mats. There’s a great opening round match between Ffion Davies and Janine Mutton, but whoever wins that will have to beat the top seed Elizabeth Mitrovic if they want to make it into the semi-final. On the opposite side of the bracket is a great opening round match between Lunna Vieira and Maria Ruffatto, with the winner facing Gabrielle McComb in the quarter-final. There are fun matchups everywhere you look and there’s no telling who will be able to walk away with the title here.
