BJJ Stars 10: Battlefield is set to take place on April 22nd, 2023 and the event will feature an absolute grand prix tournament with sixteen elite competitors that have yet to be announced. BJJ Stars is easily one of the most successful professional grappling promotions based in Brazil and their tenth event is set to take place in Sao Paulo. They’ve been going from strength to strength in recent years, and each new event has marked a clear increase in production value. As for the matches themselves, BJJ Stars has had some of the greatest grapplers available competing on their events like Mica Galvao, Lucas ‘Hulk’ Barbosa, and Felipe Pena; among many others.
The promotion tends to switch between fight cards that are stacked with superfights and grand prix events where the focus of the night is a tournament in a specific weightclass, with this being the only the second time that they have decided to stage an absolute tournament. The first time they set up an absolute grand prix was all the way back in 2019, and that tournament was won by Nicholas Meregali. While he might return to attempt to defend his title, he would not have an easy time against a field of fifteen other elite competitors. Especially seeing as he couldn’t make it past the quarter-final of their Heavyweight grand prix at BJJ Stars 5, which was won by Felipe Pena.
BJJ Stars 10: Battlefield will also feature a number of superfights between top competitors spread throughout the night as well, allowing those competing in the absolute grand prix to have adequate rest between matches. As there isn’t particularly long left until the event takes place, it’s likely that the competitors for both the grand prix tournament and the superfights will be announced relatively soon.
The news that BJJ Stars 10: Battlefield was going to feature an absolute grand prix with sixteen elite competitors was announced in a post to the promotion’s official Instagram account:
