The June 2024 update has been applied to the Jits Magazine BJJ Rankings and the full standings can be found here. May hasn’t been a particularly busy month for the highest level of grappling, although there have been plenty of fun events involving competitors outside the rankings. The final edition of ADCC Trials was the only major no gi tournament taking place, and the only other effects on the no gi rankings have come from professional shows like Who’s Number One and UFC Fight Pass Invitational. The final event of the latest Abu Dhabi Grand Slam season provided plenty of action in the gi, but the majority of the biggest competitors in that half of the sport were saving themselves this month in advance of the IBJJF World Championship.
This is also the very first month where the Jits Magazine BJJ Rankings have their own official sponsor, our brand new partners REVGEAR! Featherweight – Under 148lbs
The only change at featherweight has come from the ADCC Asia and Oceania Trials 2024, as exciting grappler Huaiqing Xu emerged as a new contender. He had a great performance but he didn’t beat anyone of note, so he slots into the 15th spot at featherweight as a result.

Gianni Grippo is a veteran grappler and he re-entered the rankings at lightweight after he got a win over the 10th-placed competitor Julian Espinosa at Place of Peace Invitational 7. Grippo steps in at 12th as a result and Espinosa drops down just below him to 13th.
Welterweight – Under 175lbs
Who’s Number One 23 resulted in two big changes at welterweight, firstly because Nicky Ryan got one of the biggest wins of his career over two-time ADCC world champion JT Torres. Although Torres wasn’t ranked at the time, it still had enough of an impact to allow Ryan to break into the 15th spot. Andrew Tackett also got a submission win over Tommy Langaker, swapping places with him at 3rd and 5th respectively.

There were no changes in the June 2024 update for this division of the Jits Magazine BJJ Rankings.
Heavyweight – Under 225lbs
Roberto Jimenez enters the rankings at 13th with his wins at the AIGA Champions League Brazil Qualifier, primarily because of one over Elioenai Braz. There’s another newcomer at number 15 in this weight class as well, as the under 99kg division of ADCC Trials was won by Daniel Schuardt.

Mason Fowler lost quite a few spaces in the pound for pound rankings due to his loss to Nicky Rodriguez at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 7, but it wasn’t enough for Rodriguez to break into them as Fowler was the smaller competitor.
Jits Magazine Men’s Gi BJJ Rankings

It was a great month for Khaled Alshehhi, as he climbed two spaces in the rankings to break into the top five after two good performances. First he won the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam – Abu Dhabi 2024 to take Yuri Hendrex out of the spot above him, and then he followed that up with a superfight at ADXC 4. That was where he earned a split decision over Leonardo Mario and moved up the second of those two spaces.
Featherweight – Under 154lbs
An Vu got a huge win over Malachi Edmond at the IBJJF Atlanta Spring Open 2024 so he breaks into the rankings at number 9, a really impressive start. There was another change slightly further down the table, as Zach Kaina beat Jordan Vaisman at the IBJJF San Diego Spring Open 2024 and earned the 13th spot for his efforts.
Lightweight – Under 169lbs
Lightweight was another division with a little change due to the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam season finale in Abu Dhabi, as Lucas Protasio works his way back up the rankings to 12th at the expense of Luiz Paulo.

Strawweight – Under 118lbs
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam – Abu Dhabi had a surprisingly big impact at strawweight, because Diana Teixeira got a huge win over Brenda Larissa to skyrocket up the rankings. She didn’t finish as high as she originally would have though, because she actually lost to Lavinia Barbosa at the IBJJF San Diego Spring Open 2024. When the dust settled, Teixeira finished in 7th place with Barbosa just ahead of her in 6th, while Larissa dropped all the way to 9th.
Featherweight – Under 129lbs
The featherweight division also felt some crazy effects of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam – Abu Dhabi, mainly because there was a mix of top brown belts and veteran black belts facing off alongside ranked competitor Alexa Yanes. Ariadne de Oliveira enters the rankings at 7th while Eduarda Lima follows suit just below her in 9th, and Yanes drops out of the rankings with two losses which causes the other women to shuffle around them quite a lot.

Maria Delahaye was in such a strong position until the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam – Abu Dhabi, and now she’s dropped pretty far down the rankings in order to make way for both Yara Kakish and Violeta Angelova.
