Trinity Pun is one of the most successful young BJJ competitors of her generation, and she has just announced a huge move for her career as she will be joining New Wave Jiu-Jitsu to train under John Danaher. She revealed that she isn’t quite ready for the move just yet, as she is waiting until she graduates school to make the move to split her time between New York and Austin. While that’s still a little while away in the future, it’ll be interesting to see how Pun develops as a competitor during her time training under Danaher.
It would be a great move for any young grappler looking to advance their career but it’s a particularly great time for Pun as fellow young star Helena Crevar also joined New Wave Jiu-Jitsu recently too. It’s also no doubt going to be great for any other women who are already training at New Wave Jiu-Jitsu, as a skilled grappler like Pun would be a valuable addition to any team. She’s already achieved a lot in her time on the mats despite being so young, including impressive wins over some notable names.
Before even joining New Wave Jiu-Jitsu, Trinity Pun is already the reigning Finishers Submission-only 145lbs champion and recently put in a great performance at Rise Invitational 11 that saw her finish in third place in their 135lbs tournament. She also came within inches of her biggest win to date back at the first Medusa event as she made it to the final of the EBI tournament. People have been paying attention to Pun for quite some time now and with her joining the team at New Wave Jiu-Jitsu, John Danaher may end up producing his first female world champion sooner than he thought.
