Andre Galvao has just announced that he will be hosting a free seminar on March 28th, 2023 that is aimed at the parents of Jiu-Jitsu competitors. Galvao has had a massive influence on the development of a ton of successful young BJJ competitors, including the Ruotolo brothers and his own daughter Sarah. The seminar is called “7 Secrets to Helping Your Child Achieve Their Full Jiu-Jitsu Potential” and it promises to show parents how to help guide their children to success in the sport without putting undue pressure on them that would only have the opposite effect.
Training and developing the skills of young children in Jiu-Jitsu is a very difficult task and one that not everybody is suited to. Outside of that though, being the parent of one of those promising young athletes can be just as difficult and having to try and combine both roles can sometimes feel impossible. For every high-level coach with successful children like Melqui Galvao and Rubens ‘Cobrinha’ Charles, there are hundreds out there who weren’t able to have the same effect on their own kids. After all, it can be hard to walk the fine line between those two roles and figure out where one ends and another begins.
Given that Andre Galvao has clearly succeeded in this task, it makes sense for the parents of young Jiu-Jitsu competitors to take the opportunity to learn from him with this free seminar. Even if those parents aren’t the actual coaches themselves, there’s still going to be valuable advice there to help them learn how to nurture and foster the athletic talent instead of potentially pressuring the children out of the sport.
