The ADCC UK National Championships 2023 took place on August 12th, 2023 and several of the best grapplers from all around the country stepped on the mats. Similarly to the ADCC Open that took place in Brazil and the first one to take place in Canada, the opportunity to get time competing under the unique ruleset is almost too good to pass up for those who plan on making a run at ADCC trials. The under 70kg division was particularly stacked with talent, and Polaris veteran Jack Sear was the one who emerged victorious despite some tough opposition.
As always with ADCC Open events, there was also some professional MMA fighters competing too. At under 100kg, UFC veteran and current KSW fighter Tom Breese managed to stand on top of the podium. In the biggest weight class at over 100kg, it was Mark Macqueen, an experienced Grapplefest competitor, who managed to win gold. There wasn’t too many female competitors unfortunately, but the over 70kg division still attracted an elite competitor as Tayane Porfirio took home the gold medal. There was quite a few exciting matches over the course of the day, and fans in attendance got to see some high-level grappling across every division.
