The ADCC Portland Open 2026 took place on February 21st, 2026 and the event featured some of the biggest names in the sport, but not all of them came away undefeated. It’s one of the major risks of competing at smaller events like this for elite competitors; that they might end up taking a loss against unknown but talented grapplers. That’s exactly what happened in the under 83kg division, as Raajus Dewan caught ADCC veteran PJ Barch with a heel hook in the opening round. Dewan came away with a bronze medal in the end, as Anthony Briones beat him on points in the semi-final and finished the day with a 4-0 record to become the champion.
The most impressive performance of the day came from Maria Ruffatto though, as she won both the under 80kg and absolute divisions. Ruffatto won 6 matches in order to take home those gold medals and she submitted 5 of her opponents, and the only woman who could go the distance with her was under 70kg gold medalist Joslyn Molina in the absolute final. Molina had a great run of her own; going 5-1 across both divisions with 3 submission finishes, and Nicole Mathew also stood out when she submitted all 3 of her opponents to win under 65kg gold. The most notable other champions in the women’s divisions were Shye Lilly and Valerie Wong, who won the under 60kg and under 55kg divisions respectively.
The men’s absolute champion was Achilles Rocha and he fell just one match short of a clean-sweep; going 6-1 with 5 submission wins and leaving with a silver medal at under 100kg. His only loss came to Abraham La Montagne, who submitted his other 2 opponents to win gold in their weight class. There were a few other big names competing, like under 91kg winner Aaron Tiegs and under 60kg winner Joey Diehl. Outside of the more well-known competitors, Mario Shonkwiler put on a great performance at under 76kg when he submitted all 4 of his opponents. He wasn’t the only one either, Logan Marshall and Kevin Hughes also registered 100% finishing rates at under 70kg and under 65kg.
