Watch ‘The Mountain’ Hafthor Bjornsson Grapple With A BJJ Black Belt

Hafthor Bjornsson is well-known for playing The Mountain on Game of Thrones, and for being the World’s Strongest Man at one point in time. At a tremendous height of 6 foot 9, Bjornsson has always been a physically imposing figure but once he’d won the title of World’s Strongest Man and tipped the scales at over 400lbs, he became one of the most terrifying men on the planet. His involvement in grappling came when he had finished taking part in the upcoming Episode 10 of Karate Combat, with Bas Rutten and BJJ black belt Joshua Palmer.

Unlike most celebrities who try their hand at BJJ, it’s not as if Bjornsson is really a normal man to roll with. In fact, in the world of elite athletes who have taken part in BJJ over the years, it’s not as if Bjornsson is a really comparable to them either. He has the size and strength advantage over the vast majority of people on the planet and just by virtue of that alone, he would be a decent challenge for any experienced black belt. This is why the training footage comes as no surprise, as Bjornsson is clearly a handful for Joshua Palmer despite his years of time spent on the mats.

Palmer isn’t just a regular old black belt either, he’s a well-known commentator in both the BJJ and MMA world. He provides his services for one of Europe’s biggest MMA promotions and a consistent feeder for top-tier UFC talent, Cage Warriors, along with the biggest grappling promotion in Europe, Polaris. He’s a legitimately solid grappler but a man who’s more than double your weight can give anyone a run for their money, as you can see from the footage.

The below video, including the training footage, was uploaded by Hafthor Bjornsson on his official YouTube channel:
