In one of the most bizarre outcomes of the year, regional MMA fighter Eduardo Riego managed to submit all of his opponents in a crazy 3-on-1 fight. While there have been many underdog victories over the years, not many fighters could have fought back from such a huge disadvantage right from the start. Most of the time that competitors come from behind in order to win it’s either from initially losing the first round or two of the fight, or maybe suffering some kind of injury early in the fight. While both of those circumstances are very impressive, there’s nothing quite like someone being able to beat multiple opponents at once.
Eduardo Riego is a light-heavyweight fighter and he was booked to face three smaller fighters at once at Dogfight Wild Tournament in Tarragona, Spain. Although his three opponents were smaller than him, they still had the significant advantage of being able to surround him and launch too many strikes for him to deal with at once. This isn’t the first time that unusual matchups like this have taken place and the majority of the time multiple opponents will win, purely due to that advantage.
This fight started off much the same and Riego was very clearly losing after the first round, as he struggled to keep up with the onslaught from his three opponents. He survived to make it to the second round though, and that’s when he was able to turn the tide by catching one of his opponents in a guillotine choke when they pushed him to the cage wall. He choked him unconscious and suddenly the odds weren’t so insurmountable, as he only had two fighters left to beat. The rest of the round wasn’t anywhere near as difficult as the first round was, and Riego made it into the third round safely.
He locked up another guillotine choke shortly after the third round began and he didn’t have to put his opponent to sleep this time, as he tapped out instead. There was still one fighter left but Riego had a significant size advantage against him and it didn’t take long for him to take his back and secure the rear-naked choke. Riego was able to get the tap and submit the final opponent of his 3-on-1 MMA fight, not only winning but actually finishing the fight as well. It was a truly remarkable achievement for Riego and it’s no surprise that the footage of his performance has gone viral either.
The footage of the 3-on-1 fight where Eduardo Riego managed to submit every single one of his opponents was repeatedly shared on Twitter and other social media platforms:
