The Road to ADCC marked the first superfight event that the world’s premier no gi tournament has held and the results certainly speak for themselves. Ever since the full card for the event was announced, fans knew that this was going to be something special. This was a stacked card from top to finish featuring a number of ADCC and IBJJF World champions competing against each other under what is recognized as one of the most exciting rulesets in the sport. The event suffered some last-minute changes when Craig Jones broke his hand and be replaced by William Tackett, while Andrew Wiltse was also replaced by Kade Ruotolo in a match against Roberto Jimenez.
The main event saw Kaynan Duarte reaffirm his status as one of the top competitors in the world by submitting fellow ADCC 2019 gold medalist Matheus Diniz. Roberto Jimenez scored the only other submission of the night as he took Kade Ruotolo’s back and sunk in a rear-naked choke to mark the second time that he’s defeated the teenage prodigy. One of the most dominant performances of the night came from Lucas ‘Hulk’ Barbosa however as he racked up a stunning 34 points against William Tackett without being scored on at all.
