Polaris Squads is certainly looking like one of the most exciting professional BJJ events to take place this year and even moreso now that they’ve announced the superfight due to take place between the team grappling matches. The fight will see the promotion’s only female champion, Ffion Davies take on elite Polish black belt Magdalena Loska which is nicely in keeping with the Team UK and Ireland v Team Europe setup for the main event. Davies’ title won’t be on the line in this match but it still represents a huge opportunity for Loska to get the upset and claim a victory over the best female talent in the UK right now, and possibly ever.
Davies burst onto the scene what feels like a minute ago and wasted no time in breaking and making records in almost every competition she entered. She won the IBJJF no gi World Championships only a matter of weeks after being awarded her black belt and quickly followed this up by becoming the first European to win the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals and the first UK athlete to win an ADCC medal, earning silver in 2019. She’s gone from strength to strength since then and won both her weight and the absolute division at the 2020 IBJJF European Championships becoming the lightest competitor ever to do so.
Alongside this excellent superfight, the Polaris Squads full lineup is as follows:
Team Europe Team UK and Ireland
