Ashley Williams will take on a phenomenal challenge at the second Polaris Squads event as he comes up against Tom Halpin in his attempt to become a triple champion. Williams already holds the promotion’s Bantamweight and Lightweight titles after beating Ethan Crelinsten and Richard Alarcon respectively and now he will be attempting to add the Featherweight title to his collection. The man looking to stop him in his tracks is another experienced competitor, Combat Jiu Jitsu World Champion and the only man to earn a submission win at the first Polaris Squads event, Tom Halpin.
The Featherweight title match will take place during the half-time break during the 80-minute squads match, the same slot that Ffion Davies and Magdalena Loska occupied during the first event. This will be the first time that the event’s superfight will have a title on the line and will also see two teammates from the first event clashing on the stage. The full lineup for Team Europe was the first to be revealed, and they will take on Team UK in the gi across a minimum of sixteen fast-paced matches, the full rules of the event can be found here.
The full play-by-play and live results for the first Polaris Squads can be found here, and we’ll be on hand to deliver the same for the gi version of the event.
