The main event for Polaris 23 has just been confirmed and the promotion has managed to book something truly special, as former UFC middleweight world champion Chris Weidman will be facing ADCC veteran Owen Livesey. The match joins a fantastic card, as the promotion has managed to put together one of the best lineups ever seen for their women’s under 66kg grand prix. Livesey isn’t the only face that fans would remember from ADCC 2022 either, as the grand prix will also feature both of the reigning champions from the women’s divisions.
Ffion Davies won the event in the under 60kg division while Amy Campo won in the over 60kg division, and both of them are competing in the women’s under 66kg grand prix. Not just that, but the silver medallist from the under 60kg division, Brianna Ste-Marie, will also be among the tough female competitors at the event. Alongside these three medallists will be Julia Maele, Elisabeth Clay, and Giovanna Jara another trio fantastic competitors that also attempted to win gold at ADCC 2022 and easily could have on any other weekend.
One of Tom DeBlass‘ top female competitors is also competing at Polaris 23, as Jaidyn Mueller will also be making an attempt to leave with the grand prize. The final space in the grand prix will be taken up by whoever wins the next edition of Polaris Contenders, slated to take place on February 4th. These eight women will battle it out throughout a night of exciting matches and the addition of Chris Weidman and Owen Livesey to the event is a fantastic choice that will no doubt impress fans everywhere.
The news that Chris Weidman was taking on Owen Livesey in the main event of Polaris 23 was announced in a post to the promotion’s official Instagram account:
