Polaris 23 took place on March 11th, 2023 and the women’s under 66kg grand prix delivered exciting results in every single match. This was easily one of the most stacked women’s tournaments that there has ever been, with both of the reigning ADCC world champions competing at the event. Amy Campo was on one side of the bracket and she stormed into the final by submitting both Julia Maele and Brianna Ste-Marie with rear-naked chokes. Although Ffion Davies was the favourite to make it to the final on the other side of the bracket, she was stopped in the second round by Elisabeth Clay. Clay submitted Joanna Dineva with a reverse triangle choke in the first round and took less than three minutes to take out Davies with a toehold. The final was a close one but in the end Clay managed to beat Campo by a single point, defeating both ADCC champions in one night.

The event also featured a number of superfights on the preliminary card leading up to the tournament, and then finished with another fantastic match between Chris Weidman and Owen Livesey. Both men put everything they had into winning and despite being much more well-known for his MMA career, Weidman was more than capable of hanging with a top submission grappler in his own sport. Livesey worked his takedowns to perfection though and managed to win a unanimous decision in the main event. To add the cherry on top, the promotion also announced during the broadcast that their next event will feature the return of Ryan Hall as he challenges Ashley Williams for the lightweight title.
