The ADCC Dallas Open took place on June 17th, 2023 and although there were several top competitors signed up to compete, it was New Wave Jiu-Jitsu that stood out as the top team in the adult’s results. The recent slate of ADCC Open events have attracted some big names to compete and Dallas was no exception, as over 1200 grapplers signed up for various divisions across all skill levels. Perhaps the most surprising entrant was Giancarlo Bodoni, the reigning 88kg ADCC world champion, who showed up to the under 100kg division and left with a gold medal in a dominant performance.

Bodoni wasn’t the only competitor from ADCC 2022 to show up to the event either, as the New Wave Jiu-Jitsu competition team was clearly out in full force. The under 84kg division was won by ADCC veteran Oliver Taza, while his teammate Luke Griffith won gold in both the over 100kg division and the absolute. Top female prospect coming out of the team, Helena Crevar, also put in a great performance in winning gold in her own division at juvenile along with the adult under 65kg division. She wasn’t the only young female competitor to put in a dominant performance though, as Jasmine Rocha won a pair of gold medals in the under 60kg division and the absolute.

Rocha wasn’t alone either as there were plenty of other impressive results outside of the New Wave Jiu-Jitsu team at the ADCC Dallas Open. Deandre Corbe and Pierre-Olivier Leclerc both stormed to victory with great runs in two of the most popular divisions at the event, under 70kg and under 76kg respectively. Matheus Lutes also continued his run of good form by winning the under 91kg division, while Alex Nguyen emerged victorious in the lightest women’s weight class at under 55kg.
