Mo Jassim has just been confirmed as the head organizer for the 2024 ADCC world championships, making it the third consecutive edition of the prestigious tournament to have him at the helm. Jassim is one of the most influential figures in modern-day BJJ competition and the work he’s done with ADCC so far is nothing short of incredible, as the organization continues to break new ground in the grappling world. Traditionally the ADCC world championships have had a different head organizer for every edition, so it really does speak volumes that Jassim has become the first person to hold the position at multiple events.
Jassim first acted as head organizer at ADCC 2019 and delivered phenomenal results immediately, but 2022 is where his work really shone. Jassim managed to act really fast after the pandemic hit and put together seven separate trials events across different continents on an incredibly short time schedule and with only one cancellation. All of that was just to serve as the lead in to the 2022 ADCC world championships, where Jassim proudly presented the biggest no gi grappling event in the history of the sport to over 12,000 fans at the sold-out Thomas and Mack Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mo Jassim managed to attract some incredible sponsors for the event, and he’s confirmed in recent comments on Reddit that he’s going to take on board all of the criticism that fans have had in order to reach an even higher level for ADCC 2024. Not only should you have full faith that Jassim is the right man to deliver an incredible event anyway, but with statements like this he shows that he’s completely focused on the task of making this sport multiple-times bigger than it already is:
“There will be assigned seating 100%. Sunday will be much faster, hall of fame Friday or Saturday, earlier start time, bronze matches on multiple mats. I read all feedback and take it to heart, I know a good amount of people didn’t like that one announcer and other issues. We didn’t execute as well as we could for sure and will aim to address those issues for 2024. It’s going to be a hell of a show and I am going for the Mack daddy arena.”
“There will be changes across the board, from judging, professionalism, time management. I agree with many of the points I am seeing and I have no issues enacting major sweeping changes.”
He also spoke about the possibilities for broadcasting the 2024 ADCC world championships as well:
“I have been approached by Flo, Amazon and UFC for ADCC. Anything is possible.”
