Max Hanson is about to attempt a truly impressive feat at Finishers Summer Bash 2 on August 26th, 2023 as he will be taking on two different challengers and defending both the promotion’s lightweight and welterweight titles on the same night. Hanson has been putting in some truly impressive work over the last year or two and has been building up a healthy collection of titles for smaller promotions like this. He’s won a pair of Sapateiro titles and put on a flawless display at Midwest Finishers 13 to win a tough lightweight tournament to become their champion too.
With big wins for other promotions like Main Character Jiu-Jitsu and some podium placements on the IBJJF Open circuit, he’s been competing regularly at every chance he gets and winning the vast majority of the time. It shouldn’t be long at all before Hanson is able to solidify his place at the highest level of competition, but in the meantime he’s taking on all challengers. There are two talented grapplers looking to dethrone Max Hanson at Finishers Summer Bash 2 and either one of them would be a tough opponent, but Hanson is intent on beating them both on the same night.
First up is Sid Tavolaro, an exciting young prospect and one of the most active competitors on the Finishers mats. He will be attempting to bring his career to the next level by taking the lightweight title from Hanson and shortly after him, Zack Ghalayini will be doing something similar. Ghalayini is slightly bigger so will be attempting to take the welterweight title from Hanson, having earned the title-shot after an impressive performance at Finishers Survivor Series 3 that saw him submit 3 opponents in one night. Anything could happen on the night of course, and it’ll be interesting to see if Hanson is able to fight off two challengers at the same event.
