Gordon Ryan has just confirmed that he wants to join Team Modolfo for the final of the AIGA Champions League that’s tentatively scheduled for some time in December, 2023. It might sound as though it’s a little premature to be making plans for the grand finale when the semi-final is still yet to be played, but ADCC head organizer Mo Jassim has put together an incredible lineup for Team Modolfo. Victory still isn’t guaranteed of course and it’s possible that one of the other teams manages to cause an upset, but Team Modolfo are definitely heavy favorites to win the semi-final tournament on August 19th and 20th, 2023.

Gordon Ryan clearly agrees with how likely Team Modolfo are to win their AIGA Champions League semi-final:

“Mo (Jassim) has an amazing ability to get stuff done when he wants to, so I’m excited to see that team go out and compete against the other teams because I think that it’s gonna be a pretty one-sided smashing for Mo’s team versus the other teams. I mean, you have ADCC medalists, ADCC champions, it’s gonna be tough to beat that team so I’m excited for it.”

He has a close relationship with Jassim himself and has worked with him on several different projects over the years, so he knows first-hand how good he is at getting things done. It might seem surprising that Ryan isn’t already on Team Modolfo but he has been battling a number of medical issues that have kept him out of competition in 2023. Now that he’s managed to come out of the other side of those issues, he’s been able to get back to training and start building back up to his previous form. He’s already explained that he has big competition plans for the end of 2023, and now it seems like the AIGA Champions League final might be part of those plans:

“I’m hoping so, yeah. We have to I guess see what the date is, because I have a UFC event I’m trying to compete for. I’m trying to schedule it around that, maybe after that, but I definitely want to if my schedule permits.”

The full interview with Gordon Ryan where he revealed his intention to join Team Modolfo in the final of the AIGA Champions League was posted to the official Instagram account of Michael Sears:
