ONE FC has been working with a number of high-profile BJJ competitors for quite some time now and now two of them, Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida and Garry Tonon, will be competing on the same event. Tonon has been fighting for the promotion for almost four years now and has managed to put together a perfect 6-0 professional record in that time. After his most recent performance against Koyomi Matsushima where he won a unanimous decision, Tonon established himself as the biggest threat to Thanh Le’s reign as the ONE FC Featherweight world champion.
Garry Tonon got the title-shot that he’s been asking for booked at the upcoming ONE X event on December 5th and now, he’ll be joined by Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida who will be making his second professional MMA appearance. Buchecha had a number of changes of opponent and delayed applied to his debut fight but he eventually did make the walk to the cage in September against Anderson ‘Braddock’ Silva. It didn’t take long at all for Buchecha to get to work and he showed just how big the skill gap between him and Silva was on the ground by locking up a North-South choke to finish the fight in the first round.
An opponent has not yet been announced for Buchecha, but the heavyweight will no doubt be looking to move his way up the promotion’s rankings relatively quickly. Considering that ONE FC is not particularly known for the depth of it’s divisions, it’s entirely possible that he can work his way in to a title-shot within a handful of fights if he continues putting on dominant performances.
The full ONE X event, including Garry Tonon challenging Thanh Le for the ONE FC Featherweight title and Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida making his second professional MMA appearance, will be streamed live on December 5th the ONE FC YouTube Channel, click here to watch.
