One of the most successful new grappling promotions in Brazil, Majestic BJJ Challenge, has just announced that they will be hosting their first ever dedicated kids event in 2024. The promotion has always been a huge supporter of children in the sport, regularly featuring them at the start of their preliminary card in their events. This has given young grapplers the opportunity to compete on a big stage in front of a huge crowd, sharing the mats with the best in the world like Mica Galvao and Meyram Maquine. Now they’re opening the doors even wider to young athletes by giving them their own event as well.
The inaugural Majestic BJJ Challenge kids event is scheduled for August 18th, 2024 and it will also serve as an opportunity for them to earn a place on the Majestic BJJ Challenge 5 card. There will be a limited number of spaces available at the event but both gi and no gi matches are available, with all the competitors ranging from 4 to 15 years of age. Not only will it be a great opportunity for the young Brazilian grapplers involved, but it’ll also be great for the fans in the area to get a preview of the next generation of elite talent.
BJ has been growing at a tremendous rate over the past few years and the number of children taking up the sport has become astounding. That’s become clear in every area as children’s classes are busy all around the world and more children are competing at both a local and national level. ADCC recently announced their first ever youth world championship for 2024 so Majestic BJJ Challenge aren’t alone here, and there’s obviously enough demand to warrant the idea. It’s great to know that major promotions are willing to invest in the future and with the level of talent on display, it’s definitely in safe hands.
