SOGI Pro: Fright Night is scheduled for October 28th, 2023 and the promotion has just announced the lineup for an 8-man lightweight tournament that’s going to take place at the event. The tournament will serve as the main attraction of the night but as with every other edition of SOGI Pro, there will also be a number of superfights throughout the card as well. Although there are several talented grapplers competing in the lightweight tournament at SOGI Pro: Fright Night, there’s one man in particular who stands out as the favorite to take home the promotion’s title.
Max Hanson has been on an absolutely incredible run lately and he’s been racking up big wins in a number of different promotions around the US. He holds a number of titles in the lightweight and welterweight divisions, and even defended both of the Finishers Sub-Only titles in those divisions on the same night at Finishers: Summer Bash. He’s been very busy all around the country in both superfights and tournaments, including recently beating out some really tough opposition at Enigma Invitational 12 to add their welterweight title to his collection.
Hanson was most recently seen only narrowly missing out on a place at ADCC 2024, as he managed to reach the quarter-finals of the 77kg division at the ADCC East Coast Trials. Although he’ll be coming in as the favorite out of the lightweight tournament lineup for SOGI Pro: Fright Night, things definitely won’t be easy for him either. His opening round match is against Andrew Franco and the winner of Jorge Chavez and Nick Deutsch will be waiting for him if he makes it to the semi-final. The other side of the bracket is just as exciting as well, with Sid Tavolaro v Josh Flores and Andy Jimenez v Diego Chaparro taking place in the opening round.
