Kayla Harrison has been with PFL for quite some time now and the promotion has been good to her, with her already earning the million-dollar prize once before and being well on the way to repeating that feat in the 2021 season. She’s now sitting at the top of the Women’s Lightweight mountain with an incredible 10-0 record and she’s a firm favorite to win her upcoming match at PFL 8 against Genah Fabian to book her place in the final match of the year.

She sat down with MMAMania to discuss her plans for the future, where she revealed that she already has her eye on bigger challenges and it would take a significant increase to her current pay in order to convince her to forego those opportunities:

“Obviously, I have these next two fights in front of me. These are the most important things. I gotta go out there and I have to dominate and instill my will. I’ve also come to the realization that if PFL and I are going to negotiate, and if they’re unable to bring in new talent or whatever, they’re going to have to offer me life-changing money in order for me to be willing to give up my chance at a legacy. That’s kind of where I’m at mentally. I know the PFL is negotiating with my manager now. That’s stuff that I let them deal with. I have a job to do. I’m going to go out there and kick ass and chew bubble gum. The rest will work itself out. I have no doubt if I do everything right, the rest will work itself out.”

This makes sense really considering that Dana White has openly said that he’s open to bringing Harrison to the UFC and she has managed to make the Featherweight limit before, opening up a massive opportunity for a blockbuster title-match between her and Amanda Nunes. This is without a doubt the most exciting fight to put Harrison in, and the only interesting fight left for her in the PFL is the potential fight with women’s boxing legend Claressa Shields. Considering she’s only recently managed to make her professional MMA debut, that seems like a pretty decent distance away compared to the chance to challenge Nunes for the UFC Featherweight world championship.

Kayla Harrison will make her next professional MMA appearance against Genah Fabian at PFL 8 on 19th August.
