Jiu-Jitsu League Germany has just announced a huge team grappling tournament that has the highest prize in the country’s BJJ history available. With a grand prize of €10,000 on the line for the winning team, some of the best competitors from all corners of Europe are travelling to Frankfurt for a chance to win it. The event takes place on August 30th, 2025 and it’s the brainchild of three experienced black belt competitors. Alexander Sak, Ahmed Laaribi, and Jurij Schiefenbusch are the founders of Jiu-Jitsu League and together with the help of some key sponsors they have put together this monumental event.
8 teams will be battling it out for the grand prize and each one consists of 5 competitors, filling out each of the standard ADCC weight classes. All 8 teams have been announced already and although there’s talented grapplers in each one, there’s a few that stand out among them. Team Neanderthal have a strong pairing in the lighter weight classes with Daniel De Groot at 66kg and Jed Hue at 77kg, while Munich MMA have Manuel Pilato at 88kg and a great entrant at over 99kg in Moritz Kollensperger. These two teams might be the slight early favorites but anything can happen in a team grappling tournament.
Because there will be so many matches going on and the winning team will have to beat 3 others to claim the title, a lot can go wrong for even the best grapplers in the world. That element of unpredictability is a big part of what makes team grappling events so exciting, combined with how easy it is for interesting stories to develop in each match. Then of course, the €10,000 grand prize will have everyone fighting tooth and nail to take their share back home. Jiu-Jitsu League Germany have done an excellent job in putting the whole thing together, now all that’s left is to enjoy the action!
