JitsCast #57 features Stuart Cooper, one of the biggest names in the world of Jiu-Jitsu filmmaking. Although Cooper is best known for his work behind the camera, he’s also a successful competitor and a popular coach as well. He’s been a coach at major locations like Tiger Muay Thai and currently at ARMA BJJ, training alongside some of the best grapplers in the world as a result. Cooper has lived, worked, and trained in many different countries over the course of his career but has now come full circle by returning to England in order to take up the new role.
Jits Magazine spoke to Cooper about his decision to combine his biggest interests of filmmaking and Jiu-Jitsu, including how that move came about. Cooper spoke about his early days profiling major names in both the BJJ and MMA world like Gunnar Nelson and Ryan Hall, and how that eventually led to his relationship with ADCC. It was the highlights, match footage, and preparation footage for those tournaments that led to him becoming recognised as one of the top filmmakers in the sport. It was also a major news moment last year when he revealed what led to the breakdown of his relationship with both ADCC and FloGrappling.
Cooper shed a little more light on those issued while also sharing what his relationship is like with FloGrappling now, after their change in management. He’s also been busy working with onenof the other major promotions in the sport, the Craig Jones Invitational, and he explained what it was like to be a part of that event. Cooper then talked about his own plans for the future, including his upcoming competition schedule. He returned to competition fairly recently; so he explained what led to that and the fact that he plans on making a run at ADCC Trials next year.
