The IBJJF is bringing back The Crown for a third edition on November 23rd, 2025 and the promotion had now finished announcing the incredible lineup of 40 elite grapplers. There are IBJJF World Championship winners in every single division and every competitor has either won major tournaments or at the very least had an incredible run through the brown belt ranks. There are also a few reigning champions returning to defend their titles and naturally they’re going to be coming in as the top contenders. Gabrieli Pessanha and Erich Munis in particular stand out as the only people who have won both of the previous editions of The Crown at super-heavyweight and ultra-heavyweight respectively.

The other women’s division will see Brianna Ste-Marie returning to defend her lightweight title, while Andy Murasaki is doing the same in the men’s middleweight division. The biggest storyline coming into the tournament is at heavyweight though, as last year’s champion Adam Wardzinski is going to compete again. The news has come as a pretty big surprise to the BJJ world because Wardzinski actually retired at the top of the sport just four months ago, and now he’s decided to return for one final performance. Then in the two lightest men’s division at featherweight, there is no former champion and there will definitely be someone new wearing the crown.
