The IBJJF Pan Championship 2024 took place from March 20th to 24th, 2024 and the results saw the latest generation of elite competitors take center-stage once again. There was plenty of action in the masters divisions too, particularly with MMA legend Demetrious Johnson putting in an incredible performance at brown belt. There were exciting matches everywhere at the tournament, with several competitors shining in their respective weight classes. In the end it was Gabrieli Pessanha who left with the most silverware though, as she won her own weight class at super-heavyweight along with the absolute division.
Gutemberg Pereira won the men’s absolute division, but he had to settle for silver in his own weight class, as he lost the final match at ultra-heavyweight to Yatan Bueno. Just below that, Anderson Munis showed that he had reached a whole new level when he managed to win gold in the super-heavyweight division. Fellipe Andrew won a tough heavyweight division and Uanderson Ferreira emerged victorious at medium-heavyweight, shortly after Mica Galvao continued his phenomenal run at middleweight to earn another gold medal. Jackson Nagai was in just as impressive form too, as he added this year’s lightweight title to his ever-growing collection.
Kennedy Maciel and Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira both won some of the most stacked divisions of the tournament at featherweight and light-featherweight respectively, while Thalison Soares stood on top of the roosterweight podium. Gabrieli Pessanha wasn’t the only elite female competitor to win big in the IBJJF Pan Championship 2024 results either, as Izadora Silva won the heavyweight division before taking silver opposite Pessanha in the absolute. The women’s medium-heavyweight bracket was packed with talented grapplers as well, but Ingridd Alves managed to come out on top there.
Thalyta Silva and Jainana Lebre were very entertaining in their matches too, winning the middleweight and lightweight divisions respectively. Art of Jiu-Jitsu actually dominated the lighter women’s weight classes, as Lebre wasn’t their only champion here. She was joined by Larissa Campos and Mayssa Bastos, who stood on top of their respective podiums at light-featherweight and featherweight in the end. The lightest division was also won by a top AOJ talent, as Shelby Murphey continued her impressive run by earning a gold medal at roosterweight.
