The IBJJF European Championship 2025 took place from January 17th to 25th, 2025 and the first major event of the year delivered some great results. Luis Oliveira left as the men’s double champion after winning both the ultra-heavyweight and absolute divisions, while Gabrieli Pessanha achieved the same feat in the women’s super-heavyweight and absolute divisions. There were a few predictable male winners too, like Tainan Dalpra at middleweight and Adam Wardzinski at heavyweight. The other heavier men’s divisions were much tougher to predict though, as super-heavyweight was won by Windson Torres and Davi Vetoraci emerged as the champion in the medium-heavyweight division.
Leonardo Souza and Yuri Hendrex won the lightweight and roosterweight divisions despite some very tough opposition, while Diogo Reis and Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira were very impressive in their runs at light-featherweight and featherweight. There were some superb performances in the women’s divisions too, most notably from Thais Loureiro at roosterweight and Mayssa Bastos at light-featherweight. At the opposite end of the scale, fans got to see an exciting heavyweight division that saw Melissa Stricker win gold while Ingridd Alves won medium-heavyweight. Janaina Lebre won the lightweight division and top contender Larissa Campos won light-featherweight, with Vannessa Griffin taking home the title at middleweight.
