The IBJJF European Championship 2024 took place from January 20th to 27th, 2024 and the results saw a new generation of gold medalists crowned. One of the biggest storylines from the event came in the middleweight division, where Mica Galvao moved up in weight and took home the title. Gutemberg Pereira walked away with the highest honors from the men’s weight classes though, by winning both ultra-heavyweight and the absolute division. Adam Wardzinski and Erich Munis were the other champions on the heaviest end of the scale, winning gold at heavyweight and super-heavyweight respectively.
Mauricio Oliveira delivered the results in the medium-heavyweight division at the IBJJF European Championship 2024, while it was Elijah Dorsey who emerged victorious in a tough lightweight division. Thalison Soares was the lightest male champion at roosterweight, while Kennedy Maciel and Meyram Maquine were the eventual winners at featherweight and light-featherweight. There was another person who walked away with two gold medals too, as Gabrieli Pessanha continued her incredible run of dominance in both the super-heavyweight and absolute divisions.
Pessanha had to beat the middleweight champion Thalyta Silva in the final of the absolute division, while it was Melissa Stricker who took a bronze medal in the absolute after winning the heavyweight division. The incredibly talented young Art of Jiu-Jitsu prospect Shelby Murphey managed to win her first IBJJF major at black belt in the roosterweight division, starting her career at the highest level in fantastic form. Just above that Jessica Dantas won light-featherweight, Margot Ciccarelli won featherweight, and Julia Alves won lightweight. The final champion who stood on top of the podium on the other end of the scale was Aurelie Le Vern, who won the medium-heavyweight division.
