The IBJJF Asian Championship 2025 took place from June 19th to 22nd, 2025, with some of the best grapplers from around the continent and even further beyond competing. The main storyline coming out of the event is that ATOS and Art of Jiu-Jitsu sent some of their best, and they each dominated. ATOS had both of the double champions in the end, with Sarah Galvao winning lightweight and Andy Murasaki winning middleweight along with each of their respective absolute divisions. AOJ’s success came in the women’s brackets, with several of their competitors closing out finals together even though there weren’t that many women competing unfortunately.
Mayssa Bastos and Lauren Sognefest reached the light-featherweight final together and Bastos conceded the title, while Mia Funegra did the same thing with her sister Ashlee Funegra at featherweight. There were a few other notable names competing in the men’s divisions though, starting with Checkmat veteran Samuel Nagai winning lightweight gold. The UAE Jiu-Jitsu team had some good results in the lighter weight classes too, with Mohammed Alsuwaidi winning at roosterweight and Khaled Alshehhi winning the light-featherweight division. All in all it was an excellent event and there was plenty of high-level matches for fans to enjoy in every black belt division.
