The IBJJF Asian Championship 2024 took place across June 28th to 30th, 2024 and several big names delivered results and stood on top of the podium. Two of the most successful gi competitors of the last few years actually made the trip to Japan, with both of them representing Art of Jiu-Jitsu. They both won too, with Tainan Dalpra taking home gold in the middleweight division and Mayssa Bastos standing on top of the podium at light-featherweight. There weren’t many other top female competitors in the black belt brackets but Emily Nicholson and Leticia Cardozo both stood out as the featherweight and heavyweight champions respectively.
Horlando Monteiro also took home a gold medal in the medium-heavyweight division and he had some serious opposition to get through, beating Lucas Giraud in the final. While there was plenty of top talent travelling from all around the world, there was also plenty of fantastic competitors from the local area too. Several Carpe Diem competitors had great performances across different weight classes, with Shoya Ishiguro leading the way for the team by winning a gold medal in the light-featherweight division.
